French bubbly on the affordable side. How good can it be for this price? Prepare for a nice surprise. Lovely strawberry nose, toasty, creamy, floral flavors with a hint of white pepper and rose petals, and a long, dry finish.

Earthy dark cherry with a bit of funk/barnyard on the nose and plenty of alcohol which you might expect given the warmth of this region. Ripe cherry and smoke flavors. Still holding desperately on to some acid for balance. But hey, it is Kosher and sure beats Manischewitz!
Cool climate Willamette fruit blended with warm dry Umpqua fruit gives this Pinot the best of both worlds at a good price! Full ripe juicy flavor but with nice subtlety and nuance. Extremely easy drinking and the perfect partner to grilled salmon or pork loin. Herbs de Provence really bring out the character of this wine.

An ultimate food-friendly patio wine. Gorgeous light salmon pink with a stony faint cherry nose supported by dried strawberries and sage. Dry on the palate, with a brisk tart finish, from plenty of luscious acidity. Drink with roast chicken, or almost anything else other than red meat. Even salads and spicy apps.

This wine easily over delivers in terms of flavor and quality for the dollar. Vibrant Bing Cherry aromas around a subtle, lightweight and elegant body and flavor. A lovely restrained weight with Burgundian acidity. Oak is in perfectly in tune and plays a supporting role without dominating and masking the fruit.

A sexy, seductive Pinot Noir with a knockout bouquet of rose petal, violet and Asian spices, this Premier Cru from Jacques Girardin is nothing short of enthralling. It comes across as delicate, yet complex, a libation fit for discerning company. Elegance and breed characterize this special wine that is both refined and oozing with flavor. Fresh juicy strawberry and hauntingly beautiful forest floor flavors fill the mouth and imbue the palate with pure pleasure. This sensual red starts out beautiful and ends up drop dead gorgeous with a soft, satisfying glow.
From the cool Central Coast bringing ripe red raspberry and strawberry, tart cherry pie, white pepper, and clove with a lovely, earthy complexity. Great now but even a couple years should show increasing depth. A prime example of Santa Maria's potential and one of our favorite CA Pinots.
Jacques Girardin Bourgogne $27.00
The Girardin family have been tending vines in Santenay for 450 years. 15 months in oak and though young and quite structured with a robust tannic backbone, itís more feminine on the nose than expected. On its way to being an truly epic Burgundy, itís still gorgeous today in all its young muscularity.
Bitouzet Prieur Bourgogne $28.00
Just across from where their Premier Cru Volnay are grown, these Pinot Noir vines were planted in the 60's and 70's and are amazing bang for the buck. Nice dark cherry flavors with lovely earthy mushroom notes. From a great producer comes great wines even if they don't have the fancy name.
Organic and perfectly balanced. While the Challonaise is a bit warmer, this 1er Cru is higher elevation and responsible for one of the best values in premiers. A year and a half in oak from just a couple acres.
Light ruby color. The Mt Jefferson Cuvee displays crushed raspberry, strawberry and red currant aromas. There are higher tones of tomato leaf and cola berry along with some brambly notes. It follows through on the palate with a core of ripe red fruits and notes of spicy complexity (cinnamon, allspice). Lower octave flavors of truffle and forest floor are forming as the wine rounds out in the finish.
Dhondt Grellet Champagne $42.00
Grower Champagne done remarkably well. This father son make a number of premier and grand crus and this tastes as good as any. Hints of melon, zesty peach, and an unusual touch of woodsy oak on the nose. Really pretty and intense flavors, especially the peach flavors. Truly gorgeous and one of my absolute favorites.
A long aging provides additional flavors of vanilla, roasted nuts and a hint of toast. A result of the carefully chosen infusion of terroir and reserve wines, the finish is long. Imparting to the finish is lightness from Chardonnay, fruitiness from Pinot Noir and roundness provided by Pinot Meunier.
These near 70 year old vines are in the highest and steepest corner of the vineyard, where only a very meagre layer of soil covers the bedrock. Only 6,000 bottles produced. Hand-harvested and 18 months in oak, about 20% of which is new. The wines is delightfully aromatic, complex and concentrated, with flavous of black fruit and kirsch, plush texture and well-integrated tannins.

While Napa gets the buzz and the latest rapper/race car driver/NBA player/Kardashian wanna-be buying up vineyards, down south in the Santa Maria Valley, some remarkably elegant wines are being crafted out of the limelight. Tectonic plates crashing into each other have created lateral valleys that run perpendicular to the coast. These funnel cool moist air through the valley creating a remarkable cool climate AVA despite being quite a ways south. I've been really impressed with these wines and we're happy to offer cru members a really special deal. Buying any of these at the vineyard runs $30 a bottle, wine.com the same.
