Arbosto Bianco $10.00
Down in the south of Italy, wine and seafood are everyday if not multiple times a day. Straightforward, big acid to cut olive oil, body to fit on the table any time. A rare grape for us but one that dates back thousands of years to Greece. Try it with rich seafood and see how it simply works perfectly.
Anjos Vinho Verde $11.00
The perfect summer-time wine, light and slightly bubbly, but crisp and dry. Tastes almost like a margarita with wonderful green apples and a crisp lemon-lime acidity. The only problem? The bottle disappears too quickly, I suggest getting a few of these little pretties.
Peter Adler Auslese Riesling $11.50
An amazing value for Auslese (certified ripeness) fruit from Germany's Mosel River Valley. Classic light petroleum and mineral nose yet flavor sweet and soft with hints of apricots and vanilla cake. A great German staple with pork of all kinds and cheeses from soft Brie to hard Gouda.
Hunky Dory $13.00
This white blend is unlike your usual NZ Sauv Blanc, an organic blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Riesling done quite dry. Shows honeysuckle, white peach and clean stone on the nose with flavors of apple peach and rose petals. The acid is softer and rounder than sav blanc but crisper than most any Gewurz or Riesling you may have had. Yes, it really is "hunky dory".
Simonsig Chenin Blanc $13.00
Chenin or “Steen” has been South Africa’s white of choice since the 1600s. One sip is all it takes. Bright and clean acidity with remarkable passion fruit, honey, apricot, pear and limestone on the nose. Soft rich flavors and a lingering finish. You’ll swear it’s big-dollar Vouvray.
Astoria Alisia $14.00
Down in the plains of Venezia the grapes gets fuller and riper than up in the Alps resulting in a softer and slightly sweeter version of the classic Pinot Grigio. Nice citrus flavors play against the soft pear fruit. A great deal and easier drinking than the "Margarita" and at a much better price. Plus you know you want the bottle when it’s empty as well!
Montinore Almost Dry Riesling $15.00
The nose offers stone and light petroleum. Palate brings some pear, pineapple, lime and soft peach. Nice solid body, lingering apple on the finish. Very good bang for the buck. Family owned organic and biodynamic in the Willamette Valley.
KuentzBas Alsace Blanc $16.00
From a small 5 acre plot at one of the highest vineyards in Alsace comes this magical blend of lesser knows. There's almost too much happening on the nose with rich floral and mineral tones. Not sweet, not dry, it's got the pedigree of a grand cru in an approachable style and price. It's not like anything else and probably why Julie Andrews was really singing and spinning in these mountain fields.
Emile Beyer Pinot Gris $19.00
Andrian Finado $19.00
Nice, clean crisp Italian white. Beautiful white peach notes, easy drinking by itself and pairs well with summer foods. Nice minerality, mild hints of honeydew. The acid freaks rejoice with this one!
Romain Chamiot Apremont $19.00
High in the French alps is the region of Savoie, remnants of the kingdom of Savoy. In these mountain valleys they craft crisp and clean whites made for hearty fare. Show up the next wine geek you meet by telling them how lovely the last “Jacquere” you had was! Lovely pear and stone flavor with lemon rind finish
Champalou Fondreaux Vouvray $28.00
The best producer and his best cuvee, if you are going to do Vouvray you might as well do it right. Soft and slightly sweet melon, citrus and peach. Elegant and supple with haunting flavors and not overly sweet. Find out what Chenin Blanc can taste like.
